Bibliography
I have been a fan of naval historical fiction, since I was a boy and loved
the Hornblower books. Later I loved Forester's "The Ship", Monsarrat's "The
Cruel Sea"
and Alistair MacLean's "HMS Ulyssses". However, it was the Bolitho
books of Douglas Reeman, writing as Alexander Kent, that really got me hooked. I
found
the third book in the series in paperback, when I was travelling by train,
bought the previous two, also in paperback, but after this could not wait and
bought the
hardbacks, as soon as they came out. I then discovered the Ramage and
Drinkwater series and my collection has grown and grown.
Below is a list of my books in the genre, showing also one or two gaps that I
need to fill in, of some authors' works. For instance, I want to replace my lost
copy of John Winton's "We Joined The Navy, because I co-starred in the film with
Kenneth Moore - maybe co-starred is a slight exaggeration, I was visible for a
nano second on the assault course at Dartmouth, where I was a cadet in 1962. My
girlfriend at the time said she would recognize my rear-end anywhere. What more
can one ask of a review. I would also like to replace my Anthony Melville-Ross
books that went astray in one house move or another:-
