Miscellaneous work by Herbert Dicksee, R.E.
including book illustrations
HD illustrations appear in a number of books, both of prose and
poetry and I am attempting to include images, of those that I find. Please, if
you come across any of these books, do not split them up just for the plates. If
you really want to use an illustration from a book print, photograph it
digitally and produce the print from the digital image. Books scream if they are
vandalised and an ancient curse descends upon the vandal.

individually unattributed but some clearly by HD, as below

The
accompanying illustration "Conrad Unhorsed" is taken from the Talisman. It is
from the Border Edition of the Waverley Novels published by Macmillan & Co
Limited, New York in 1904. The dog appears to be a rough coated greyhound, with
many features in common with the Deerhound.
The
accompanying illustration "Minna on the Cliff" is taken from The Pirate. It is
from the Sterling Edition of the Waverley Novels published by Dana Estes and
Company, Boston, date of publication not specified.
I would welcome contributions
from other owners of Herbert Dicksee memorabilia and ephemera.
