Forthcoming books, with top quality illustrations, on the Dicksee artists have been announced. They are by Bryan Steele, to whom I owe a great debt for his help in building up both my collection of Herbert Dicksee’s art and in the preparation of my on line catalogue and by Simon Toll

Bryan is researching Herbert Thomas Dicksee and his father John Robert - his book will largely concentrate on Herbert's etchings (170+ different ones) but colour images of oil paintings, water-colours etc depicting his dog and wildlife subjects etc are very much needed in order to achieve a good pictorial balance within the book. The book will contain a catalogue raisonne of all Herbert's etchings.

My Herbert Dicksee on line catalogue will continue as a guide to identification and classification of his work, but to see the works , as they are meant to be, Bryan’s book will be essential.

Simon is concentrating on the other three artists - his book will major on the life and works of Sir Frank Dicksee -who was President of the Royal Academy, London from 1924 until his death in 1928.

They are still looking for additional information, particularly on the whereabouts of any original oil paintings, water colours and drawings and for high quality images of these works.

Bryan, who is retired, is co-ordinating this research for both books. His e mail address is b.steele70@ntlworld.com

Please look at their website, which is www.herbertthomasdicksee.com  , and which gives fuller details

I can not remember ever wanting to own any books quite as much as I do these two.
